Pursuing research carried out on the Upper Lys Valley for a Masters 2 degree at the University of the Aosta Valley (Sessarego 2020), this article casts light on a small territory extremely rich linguistically, since it manages to possess, over just a few square kilometers, no less than three official languages. It is a specific case of multilingualism, given that in this mountainous area, situated in the Aosta Valley, Italian, French and German cohabit, plus other minority languages (patois, titsch, töitschu, piémontais), as well as the English, studied in school.
