Based on international literature in geography and regional science, this contribution analyses the different spatial patterns of the Winter Olympic Games. Using the concept of Local Territorial System (SLoT), the study focuses on the specific case of Turin 2006 in order to observe its spatial model and how the organization of the Winter Olympic Games evolves into a regional model and catalyst for regional strategies. By studying the different spatial models, new understanding on the relationship between the Olympic venues and the urban fabric will be provided, providing valuable tools for evaluating the Olympic event on the reference territory. The spatial models allow Olympic urbanism to be considered an intangible asset for the post-Olympic phase.
